Ranbir Kapoor is a good friend: Katrina Kaif

Ranbir Kapoor is a good friend: Katrina Kaif: She is known as much for her good looks and streak of luck as for the insurmountable controversies surrounding her personal life. But actor Katrina Kaif, who has recently been under the media scanner for her alleged link-up with Ranbir Kapoor, is taking it all with a grain of salt.

“He (Ranbir
) is a lovely person and a good friend but beyond that I don’t comment on these things at all. If I spend all my time confirming and denying these things, I won’t have any time to work. Rumours like that go on and on. They are part and parcel of the industry,” says Kaif, 26, who thinks the constant attention ends up hampering relations.

“It’s pretty depressing sometimes because these are wonderful co-stars and nice people. Sometimes relationships can get strained because there’s too much funny speculation. But you’re stuck with a smile about it all, pick up your head and keep moving on and hope your work speaks for itself,” says the actor, who is endorsing Lux’s new variant - Lux Fresh Splash.

Quiz her about her relationship with ex beau Salman Khan, she says: “Everyone knows and it’s quite clear that Salman and I remain friends. We have both given statements saying we’re single. We are not together. And all other rumours they come and go.”

The actor was also in news recently as a distributor claimed to be re-releasing the DVD of her debut dud Boom with never seen before explicit footage featuring Kaif. But she is unperturbed. “It’s been clarified by the Hindujas. They own the rights and they are clearly not distributing or re-distributing that. That’s kind of a premature statement given by somebody,” she asserts.

Speculations and gossip mills are also abuzz that she is playing the leading lady opposite Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3. Prod on the same and she says: “All these rumours kind of remain and come and go. If I sign anything I’ll definitely make a formal announcement.”

Kaif, who will be next seen in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is also excited about her Barbie doll that is going to hit the Indian market soon. “I was very happy and I was very excited as well the first time Barbie had chosen to do this with an actor. It’s a whole lot of fun way to connect with the girls, your fans and kids who watch what we wear when our songs come on TV,” says the actor, who is now looking forward to an action-packed role and a period movie.

The actor is apparently also a part of a Seeta Aur Geeta remake opposite Akshay Kumar. The project, however, is facing a tussle. “Unfortunately and very sadly there seems to be some dispute on the rights of that with the Sippy brothers. So let’s wait and watch,” she says.

Ask her about the much-talked about sequel to Vipul Shah’s Namastey London and Kaif replies: “Honestly speaking I don’t know anything about it yet but I’m sure whenever he’s (Vipul) is ready, he’ll tell me.”

What about her much-awaited home production? “No plans yet. I’m too busy with the films I’m doing right now,” she says.

So does that mean her sister Isabelle’s acting career gets deferred for now, as the doting sister was about to launch her sibling in her production debut? “My sister is definitely interested in acting but she is in New York at the moment and when she does come here or make her way here, I’ll definitely talk more about it then,” she says.
